About this event

From 28 June - 2 July 2021 the Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IDSAI) invites you to join in celebrating the best of Data Science and AI at Exeter by hosting a week long series of talks, research project presentations and training opportunities.

Sessions are open and accessible to all Exeter staff and students and the wider IDSAI community.

The week long event will again take place online via Zoom.

Day 1 - Monday 28 June 2021

Day 3 Wednesday 30 June 2021

Session 1: 11:00-12:00 Taster training session: Fitting computer vision models with no or little annotations with IDSAI Research Fellow Dr Dmitry Kangin

AUDIENCE: Internal University of Exeter Staff and Students, particularly those with interest in analysis of visual data

Session 2: 13:00-14:00 Environmental Intelligence: Using the power of data to tackle the climate emergency with Prof Gavin Shaddick

AUDIENCE: The IDSAI Community

Session 3: 15:00-17:00 IDSAI Virtual Community Social: We welcome those within the IDSAI Community who have signed up to attend the Data Science week activities to join us for a virtual social. We hope to provide cream tea boxes which will be sent in the post and can be enjoyed as part of this session. Please note this session has limited capacity.

Session 4: 16:00-17:00 Dr Elisabeth Bik, a Dutch microbiologist, who has worked for 15 years at Stanford University and 2 years in industry. Since 2019, she is a science integrity volunteer and occasional consultant, who scans the biomedical literature for images or other data of concern and has reported over 4,000 scientific papers. - The Dark Side of Science: Misconduct in Biomedical Research
